Why it Matters: Customization had quite a boom for a while, as consumers began to pick and choose their way through services, menu items and products from their favorite brands. The only problem is that it soon became an expectation, and customization quit being a feature and started being a stock standard. However, customization continues to evolve as it becomes less about picking out the parts and becomes more focused on “building the whole.”
