And all the wrecked cars from Saturday and Sunday ended up in repair shops Monday morning.
When repair estimator Bobby McKinney hears snow is in the forecast, he knows exactly what kind of day to expect.
"Pretty hectic," he said.
Snowy and icy roads mean a full garage at Dodson-Williams in Springfield.
"A lot coming in over the weekend and we expect probably another five to ten today and probably more to come," he said.
Most of the cars aren't even brought in by their owners.
"We've had probably five to ten tow-in's that were already in our lot when we got here this morning," he said.
McKinney said cars sliding off the side of the road is the most common reason a car ends up in here.
"We've had some body damage, but a lot of it is wheels, tires, front end suspension," he said.
The shop had a packed schedule of repairs Monday, but McKinney says they expected it.
"We usually try to get prepared for it to get really busy and that's what it's been," he said.
And if the white powder keeps falling and the temps stay below freezing, it's looking like more busy days like this one for these mechanics.
"Expect the worst, I guess you could say," McKinney said.
