HIGHLANDVILLE, Mo. -- A man injured when shots were exchanged during a traffic stop in Christian County today (6/14/18) has been taken to a local hospital, according to a deputy at the scene.
Christian County Sheriff's Deputy Sgt. Krista Bullard said the man was injured after he was stopped by a deputy on U.S. 65 near Christian County EE about 10 a.m.
He was southbound on 65. She would not say why the traffic stop was initiated.
The driver fired at the deputy, she said, and the officer returned fire.
She would not say whether the driver was struck by gunfire, only that he was injured and taken to a hospital.
The deputy was not injured in the exchange.
The incident is still under investigation and that likely will continue through the afternoon, Bullard said.
