LAWRENCE COUNTY, Mo. -- The son of the man accused of the shootings at a Jewish community center and retirement home near Kansas City made headlines six years ago.

In March of 2008, 30-year-old Jesse Miller was involved in a car crash along ZZ Highway in Lawrence County.

When 55-year-old Joseph Rich stopped to offer Miller help, Miller pulled a gun and murdered Rich.

Miller also shot and injured a police officer.  That officer fired back, killing Miller.
