Severe Flooding in Waynesville, Missouri

WAYNESVILLE, Mo. -- UPDATE 5:30am  - Severe flooding is reported along Roubidoux Creek in Waynesville this morning with water in homes.

A Flood Emergency has been declared in Waynesville and Fort Leonard Wood.

Flooding is reported in downtown Waynesville this morning and social media reports are of people being evacuated from about 20 homes in downtown Waynesville.

NEW  A team of 4 fire rescuers is also in danger (as of 5:30am), after their rescue boat capsized while trying to get to flooding victims.  Those rescuers were tossed into the rushing water and other teams were hurrying to rescue the firefighters.

The National Weather Service says there are reports on people on roofs.  Several roadways on Fort Leonard Wood are under water or impassable.
NEW  Eastbound lanes of I-44 near mile marker 145 or the Pulaski-Laclede County line are closed due to high water.

The latest radar images show very heavy rain in the Waynesville and Fort Leonard Wood area and more on the way.  NEW Fort Leonard Wood reports 4.47 inches of rain since midnight.

A command post has been set up at the Westside Baptist Church on Old Route 66, the main street through town.

Montauk State Park in Dent County is being evacuated due to high water.
