KOLR10's Laurie Patton is in the courtroom for the sentencing, where a judge sentenced Blaec Lammers to 15 years for first-degree assault and 15 years for armed criminal action.  The sentences are to be served concurrently.

BOLIVAR, Mo. -- Sentencing is scheduled this afternoon in Bolivar for a man who pleaded guilty to plotting to shoot people at a Walmart store.

Blaec Lammers, 21, pleaded guilty in late January, to charges of first degree assault and armed criminal action.  He was accused of planning to shoot people at a Walmart store in Bolivar, and at movie showing at the theater in Bolivar.  Another charge of making a terroristic threat was dismissed by the trial judge.

According to witnesses, Lammers purchased AR-style guns from Walmart days before he was arrested.

Lammers' mother, Patricia Lammers, testified she found a receipt for purchased guns in Lammers' jeans pocket and received a call from the father of Blaec's girlfriend regarding storage of Lammers' guns at his house.

It was these incidents, tied with her son's history of mental illness, that led her to call law enforcement officials.

“My intention was to let city sheriff know that the guns were out there, to watch out for my son, not my intention to get him arrested,” said Patricia Lammers. “I didn't want my son to kill himself.”

This prompted the Bolívar Police Department to do a well-being check on Lammers at a local Sonic. Later, they decided more questioning was necessary.

It was at the station that Lammers was interviewed, arrested, and eventually charged.

He has been in the Polk County Jail since his arrest.    His sentencing is set for 1pm today before Circuit Judge William Roberts.
