SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Salvation Army served its annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner today at the Harbor House. At the dinner volunteers helped distribute a traditional turkey meal from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. this afternoon.

The annual Thanksgiving dinner is made possible each year in part through monetary donations received during The Salvation Army's Tree of Lights Campaign. The Salvation Army was able to provide more than 250 guests and home bound residents with a Thanksgiving meal last year.

"Although we are delighted to bring together so many on this day, it's important to remember that there exists a real need in our local community to provide to those who are less fortunate all year long," Major Norman Grainger, Springfield Corps Officer said.

All of those who are in need were invited to attend the annual community meal.
