OMAHA, Ark. -- One man is arrested and another is being sought following a gas theft at an Ozarks school district.

Mike Moore, Sheriff of Boone County, Arkansas, says Sean Burchfield, 21, faces charges in the theft Saturday around 11:30 p.m. at Omaha School.

Sheriff Moore says deputies responded to a report of a "suspicious person" and found two people fleeing in a truck. Burchfield was arrested at the scene after deputies say they found gas containers in his truck, and several more near the school bus refueling station.

The second person -- Clifford Andrews, 21 -- is now being sought. He and Burchfield are each charged with breaking and entering, theft, and other offenses.

Sheriff Moore says deputies found a battery powered pump and a hose hooked to the school's gas tank as well as five gas cans partially filled with gas. He says the suspects had pumped about 20 gallons of gas from the tank and apparently had plans to get much more, as there were several empty cans and two 55 gallon barrels in their truck.

Burchfield is currently out on $2,500 bond.

Sheriff Moore asked that anyone with information about this incident or any other criminal activity contact the Sheriff's Office at (870) 741-8404. Persons who leave tips may remain anonymous. He also reminded everyone in the county to watch for suspicious activity, report unusual circumstances, and keep their homes and businesses secure.
