Rape Arrest a Result of Team Effort by Douglas County Deputies

AVA, Mo. -- An Ava man is arrested following a week-long investigation into rape allegations.

Jacob James, 31, was arrested Friday at a rural home just east of Ava.

Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase says James was under investigation after an 18-year-old woman had to be treated for her injuries from a sexual assault. The woman was located at James' home last Saturday, April 20.

James now faces several charges including Forcible Rape, Forcible Sodomy, Armed Criminal Action, and Domestic Assault. He's held in Douglas County Jail in lieu of $500,000 cash.

Sheriff Degase says almost every deputy in the department worked on the case in some form or fashion.
