Rain or Shine - Rock'n Ribs is on This Weekend

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- It may be a little too wet to grill outside this weekend, but you can still get your barbeque fix at the annual Rock'n Ribs Barbeque Festival in Springfield.

This is the 18th year for the Kansas City BBQ Society’ Sanctioned event in Springfield.

More than 70 teams from all over the country will be here to compete.  They'll put up their best offerings in the categories of chicken, pork ribs, pork, brisket and whole hog.  Total prize money is $15,000.

The fun kicks off tonight (4/21) at 5:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. at the Ozarks Empire Fairgrounds with a limited sampling, live music and a Texas Hold 'em Poker Tournament.

The BBQ competition starts Saturday, public sampling begins at 1:00 p.m. until it's gone.  Live music, more poker, a vendor village and Kids Zone will be part of the fun.

Cost for general admission to the festival is $10 per person at the festival gates. Tickets may be pre-purchased for $8 at HyVee, Great Southern and Kum & Go locations in Springfield.

All proceeds benefit seven local children’s charities including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Great Circle, Boy Scouts of America, Good Samaritan Boys Ranch, Harmony House, Ronald McDonald Tooth Truck, and the YMCA.
