Police Investigate Shooting at North Springfield Apartment

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. --  Springfield police say a man was handcuffed and pistol whipped at an apartment complex in north Springfield.  And shots were also fired at the scene.

Police Lt. Jason Laub tells KOLR10 News it happened about 7:00 a.m. at the apartments in the 1200 block of W. Norton Road.
Laub says police are looking for the people who assaulted the victim after handcuffing him.

Shots were fired, but no one was struck, Laub said. Shell casings were recovered at the scene.

The man was able to escape from his assailants and ran to another apartment to ask for help. The people living  in that apartment called 911.

First responders cut the cuffs off the man, who suffered injuries from the beating but refused further medical attention, Laub said.
