Police Find Missing Arkansas Man's Body in Beaver Creek

TANEY COUNTY, Mo. – The Taney County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 28-year-old man from Berryville, Ark. after police found his body in Beaver Creek.

According to a news release, Gary Lee Slater was reported missing on April 10 around 7:30 a.m. from the area of Cross Timbers Rd. near Kissee Mills, Mo.

Police say Slater had been to a party on the night of April 8 with three other people near the end of Cross Timbers Rd. on Beaver Creek.

The people with Slater reported that the man was very intoxicated and walked away in an unknown direction that night.

On April 10, after the missing persons report was taken, Taney County Deputies searched the area on foot and found Slater’s hooded sweatshirt a little over a mile from where he was last seen.

Baxter County, Ark. officials sent their helicopter to assist in the search and around 4 p.m. the helicopter located Slater’s body in Beaver Creek near where the sweatshirt was found.

At this time, police are awaiting autopsy results to confirm cause of death. The autopsy is scheduled for April 11.
