Suspect Flees from Police, Crashes into Unrelated Driver, Killing Man from West Plains

WEST PLAINS, Mo. - One man is dead after a driver fleeing from police crashed into his vehicle early Saturday morning.

According to the West Plains Police Department, Kannen Farris, 29, of West Plains, was killed after a driver fleeing from police ran into his vehicle after a police pursuit was terminated.

Police attempted to stop a vehicle on Thayer Avenue near Bill Virdon Ave around 12:30 a.m. The driver failed to stop and continued down Bill Virdon onto Broadway.

The police chase was terminated on Broadway at Porter Wagoner Boulevard. The suspect vehicle continued west on Broadway where it was involved in the accident with Farris' vehicle just west of Utah Street.

Farris was pronounced dead later at the hospital. The suspect was flown to Springfield hospital and charges are pending at this time.
