Nixon Appoints Springfield Man to Missouri Ethics Commission

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – In an announcement on Tuesday, Gov. Jay Nixon named three nominations to boards and commissions, one of which is a Springfield man.

Gregory W. Weaver (D), of Springfield, was nominated to the Missouri Ethics Commission.

The Commission receives and reviews complaints alleging violations of conflict of interest, lobbying and campaign finance disclosure laws.

Weaver is the lead paralegal instructor for Everest College in Springfield and has a background as an attorney in private practice and an attorney advisor for the Social Security Administration.

Nixon has nominated him for a term ending March 15, 2018.

Along with Weaver, Nixon nominated two other Missourians:

  • Missouri Real Estate Appraisers Commission: Melba Curls, of Kansas City
  • Missouri Western State University Board of Governors: David G. Liechti, of St. Joseph
