Motorcyclist Dies in Crash with 18-Wheeler

WEBSTER COUNTY, Mo. – A man is dead after a motorcycle versus semi-truck accident on U.S. 60 in Seymour Thursday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Matthew S. Payton, 55, of Seymour, was westbound on a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he entered and intersection and failed to yield to the semi-truck.

Payton struck the semi and was ejected from the motorcycle.

He was later pronounced dead by Webster County Deputy Coroner Robbie Jernigan.

This is Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop D’s fifth fatality for the month of August and 62nd for 2014.


SEYMOUR, Mo. -- The Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating a crash early Thursday near Seymour, involving a motorcycle and tractor-trailer.

Sgt. Jason Pace tells KOLR10 News the crash happened about 7:15 am in the westbound lane of Highway 60 in Seymour.

The motorcyclist was rushed to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The Patrol's crash investigation team is on the scene, as is required whenever a commercial vehicle is involved in a serious crash.
