And in honor of those military dads who can't be with their families on Sunday, we've put together some of the best surprise reunions between soldiers and their kids.
"I saw the boots and I thought it was just some ordinary army man. And then I saw his pants and I knew it was probably my dad. I was surprised"
"It's hard when they're on the phone. Asking you, pleading with you to come home. There's nothing you can say to explain it to them."
"It used to be one of my dreams to be a teacher and a principal one day. So, I got to be the principal for a day."
"Did you think you were in trouble when you came down here?"
"Overwhelming. I was a little nervous, but I was just happy to see my girls and happy to be home. Happy to give them a hug and just give them that fatherly love that they need."
"You happy daddy's home? Yea? I love you."
"I love you too"
"I missed you"
"They were both speechless when they saw me. All they wanted to do was hug me and you could just feel the joy"
"Hi! How are you?"
"I lost a tooth"
"I tell you what. I'll go out on a mission with a bunch of guys and I don't feel anything. I'm a little nervous now. She thinks I'm in Afghanistan right now flying around in a helicopter"
(cheering and clapping)
"It's like every letter I write her every time we email back and forth it's, 'you're my whole world. Big hug big kisses' "
"What's the most important thing?"
"Just wish real hard."
"I missed you two. You know how much I missed you two?"
"My wife and I were talking about coming home and doing something special for the girls. To kinda surprise them a little bit. I think we accomplished that mission today."
