The state transportation department has released a tentative list of hundreds of projects it will finish if voters approve the transportation sales tax in August. Chief Engineer Ed Hassinger says the 811 programs and projects are divided among seven regions.

The proposal calls for a three-quarters of one percent increase in the state sales tax. The tax would end in ten years unless extended by voters.

Hassinger says the department is confident the sales tax will provide money for all of those projects to be completed within the decade that the tax would be collected. .
He’s confident all of the projects could be completed within the ten-year life of the sales tax…

“We’ve made the hard decisions,” he says, “These are the ones that on the draft we can deliver with the anticipated revenue.”

The list has been compiled after meetings throughout the state. More meetings are being held to get public reactions. The final list will be published next month.
