Missouri Urging People to Be Severe Weather Aware

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- This is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Missouri and weather experts urge people to be more familiar with weather terms and conditions that could mean danger during the spring storm season.

A statewide tornado drill will be held Tuesday, March 7, at 10 a.m. Outdoor warning sirens and weather alert radios will sound across the state.

People are encouraged to practice taking shelter and put an emergency plan in place. Don't wait until storms, tornadoes or flooding are happening to think about what you should do.

19 people were killed over one weekend in late February due to severe storms in the Midwest.
