During the ceremony, awards were handed out to youth for their essays and posters on law. Awards were also handed out to three attorneys and leaders in the law community.
A scholarship was also awarded to one law student at the University of Missouri.
Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander spoke about the importance of the constitution and several controversial topics in the states capitol.
"This is a room that is a collection of Southwest Missouri's best legal minds, collection of the most dedicated public servants and community leaders in the state,” says Kander.
The lunch is a part of three different events for Law Day.
It’s followed up with a 5K Friday at 4 p.m. at Jordan Valley Park and an art opening as well.
