ROGERSVILLE, Mo. -- Engineers with MoDOT will unveil the plans for improving Highway 60 between Springfield and Rogersville, during a public meeting later this month.

In March, MODOT project manager Sean Matlock told KOLR10 News there are plans to upgrade the expressway to a freeway between Springfield and Rogersville.
"Basically, an expressway is a four lane, two lanes, each direction, and access can be at an interchange or at-grade crossings."

Matlock says to do that, the number of access points to the roadway would have to be reduced.
"What that entails is eliminating all those at-grade crossings, the driveways that are connected right on to US 60, eliminating those county roads to US 60."

The meeting will be held between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m., Thursday, August 28, at the Logan-Rogersville Upper Elementary School at 306 S. Mill Street (northeast corner of U.S. 60 and Route B) in Rogersville.

According to MoDOT, some of the details of the project include:

*Build two-way backage roads with one-way outer road
*Build an overpass over Route 60 at Farm Road 247
*Widen Farm Road 253 between Route 60 and Center Street
*Build an interchange at Route 60 and Farm Road 253
*Build an interchange at Route 60 and Routes B/VV
*Reconfigure intersection of Route VV and Redbud Street
*Improve the intersection of Route VV and Johnstown Drive
*Add turn lanes on Route 60 at Chicory Road and at Peck Hollow Road
