SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Budget cut discussions will now go forward in Springfield.

Mayor Bob Stephens wanted those discussions to wait until after the veto session, but he withdrew a resolution calling for a delay, during Monday night's City Council meeting.

Another big issue before the Council is police staffing.

The Springfield Police Officers Association is asking for more officers on the street.  Monday night, Stephens says the city cannot hire more officers without using money that funds other city departments.
