Man Charged in Phony Bomb Report at Clever, MO School

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - A man from Springfield is now charged with making a false bomb report about Clever High School.

after calls on April 3 to Greene County 911 claimed a student had taken a bomb to Clever High School. Class D felony

Bobby Helms, 48, was charged this week after interviews with Greene County Sheriff’s investigators.

A probable cause statement (attached above this story) in the case states that Helms made a call on April 3 to Greene County 911, claiming a student had taken a bomb to Clever High School.

Investigators say Helms told them he was having a disagreement with the mother of the Clever student and he apologized in a written statement for his conduct.

He was released from the Greene County Jail on $20,000 bond.  The charge is a felony.  Under terms of the bond, Helms is forbidden from possessing a firearm or ammunition, being near the Clever High School premises or communicating with the student or his family.
