LEBANON, Mo. -- Charges have been filed against a man from Mountain Grove, Missouri, for a shooting early Tuesday morning in Laclede County that left one man dead and a teenager critically hurt.

Matthew Rumbaugh, 65, is charged with first degree murder, armed criminal action, and first degree assault.  The shooting left Chad Gerber, 35, dead and a 15-year old boy critically injured.

The shooting happened about 3:00 am Tuesday at a house on Atlanta Road near Conway.   Sheriff Wayne Merritt says someone kicked the front door to the house open.

The wife of the fatally shot man and his two young girls, ages 12 and 13, were also in the house at the time of the shooting and were not injured.

According to the sheriff's department, the family had a history with the shooter. They say the fatally shot man's wife filed a restraining order against the man in February.

Rumbaugh appeared before a judge this morning and entered a plea of not guilty.  He is scheduled to be back in court July 21.

According to Sheriff Merritt, the 15-year-old remains in critical condition, but is stable at this time.
