GREENE COUNTY, Mo. -- Several organizations around the Ozarks are showering the area with food baskets today.Volunteers got an early and chilly start this morning as they gathered to help others.

Crosslines estimates that over 1,000 families will receive baskets this year through their effort. Each of the food baskets contains enough food for a holiday meal, breakfast, and a snack for everyone in the household. The food will be distributed to help over 4,000 people, a 3% increase over last year's distribution, the agency says.

James River Church, Least of These, and Journey Church are a few other organizations working hard today to ensure that families have a Thanksgiving meal. Be sure to catch our newscast tonight for final numbers on the events and to find out how you can help provide families with food for Christmas.
