SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Movie-goers plan to fill theaters this weekend to watch the newest film about the life of Jesus. Some local churches even bought out entire shows.

It’s called Son of God and it opened Friday.

The manager at Campbell 16 in Springfield says some churches have bought all the tickets for certain shows.

KOLR10 found one church group about to watch, and asked members what they hoped to get out of the film.

"Just a deeper experience and becoming more familiar with the bible,” says George Trammell.

"You know, you read the bible and you know the stories, but when you see it on the screen, it makes a big difference,” says Tom Fithen. “It changes your perspective on that portrayal."

This is one of the most high-profile films about Jesus since the Passion of the Christ was released 10 years ago.
