JOPLIN, Mo.-- Joplin City Council members approve the renewal of the three eighths cent sales tax to go on the August ballot. Joplin's financial director, Leslie Haase, says many projects would be completed if residents approve the continuation of this tax.

"Some of the projects with the new tax would be Shifferdecker, Country Club Lane, more intersections resurfacing, 44th Street. Those would just be some of the projects, but there is an entire list that will be rolling out to the public," said Leslie Haase, Joplin Financial Director.

Also at the meeting, the city council approved the firm "The Mercer Group" to help hire the city's new city manager. The group will begin their search on May 15th. They plan to have a new city manager hired within three to four months.
