JOPLIN, Mo.-- Representatives with the Missouri State Auditor's Office arrive in Joplin to start their audit of the city and of the Joplin School District.

The audit manager spoke with the Joplin School Board this evening to give an overview of the process and answered any questions the board might have. This audit was requested by Joplin Business Owner David Humphreys post-tornado. Dr. C.J. Huff says the auditors have indicated that they will be in Joplin for at least six months. He added, this audit will be at no cost to the local taxpayer.

"It's a different type of audit in terms of the depth and detail that it goes into, which is fine, and we welcome the audit and look forward to any recommendations they have for us so we can improve processes and procedures going forward. I mean there's no question in our mind that we can do better," said Dr. C.J. Huff, Joplin Schools Superintendent.

For anyone who would like to provide information during the audit process about the Joplin School District, they're encouraged to contact the state auditor's at 1-800-347-85-97 or by e-mail at Moaudit@auditor.Mo.Gov.
