Hurricane Relief: How to Help

So many people around the country are asking how they can help the victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma along the Gulf Coast, Florida and the southeast coast.  Here's how you can donate.

  1. Nexstar Broadcasting is partnering with the American Red Cross to raise funds for victims of Harvey and Irma.  Click here, call 1- 800-RED CROSS or text the word HARVEY or IRMA to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

  2. You can donate to Springfield-based Convoy of Hope, which has teams in Texas and Florida helping victims.  Click here

Other ways to help:

  • FEMA Administrator Brock Long encouraged Americans who want to help storm victims to connect with the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD) online, which is coordinating donations and volunteers. 
  • The mayor of Houston has set up the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund to accept tax-deductible flood relief donations.  It'll be run by the Greater Houston Community Foundation. For more information you can head to ghcf.org.
  • Catholic Charities USA, the domestic relief agency of the U.S. Catholic Church, is accepting donations online and by phone. Text CCUSADISASTER to 71777 to make a donation.  https://app.mobilecause.com/vf/CCUSADISASTER
