SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Christy Eggers was killed in a car accident four decades ago. She was only 19.

"She went to school, High School at Hillcrest and all the kids had cars to drive to school so that's what she wanted, so we looked about and she got a Volkswagon bug and we got it and that's what she had her accident in. A cab driver crossed the line and hit her head on," said her father Charles Eggers.

Charles and his wife were determined to carry on her memory. The insurance company paid a few thousand dollars after the crash and he said his daughter had about two-thousand dollars in her checking account. He began investing that money.

"I took that money over 40 years and I took that money and in her name bought real estate and through other investments and this is how we accumulated her money."

In that time he turned a few thousand dollars into 500-thousand dollars. In Christy's name, he donated all the money for children's care to the Mercy Health Foundation. Charles' said his daughter loved children and now her love for children can live on.

"She's baby-sit alot and she loved kids and that's what we wanted to do is use her money to help children in the hospital."

"This is what we are donating, NOT my money, it was hers and we worked over 40 years to get."
