FORSYTH, Mo. – Community Presbyterian Church sits in the middle of Forsyth with a congregation that’s not too big. A little over 100, but the contribution this church gives to this community is huge.

“It’s just a wonderful church,” says Jim Czerniak. “The pastor being a leader of our congregation just spills down love and concern for our fellow people.”

Czerniak nominated Pastor Dennis Winzenried as a Hometown Hero.

He's a spiritual leader, but he also gives his time to nearly a dozen other organizations all aimed at helping others in the Ozarks.

“They say everybody in town knows him because he's involved in everything,” says Liz Rodgers, a member of the church. “Well we think that’s great because he has the ability and we are willing to share him.”

Pastor Dennis takes great pride in helping with the Boys and Girls Club, Love inc. and Transformational Ministries; guiding people back into society and getting them over a bump.

“That’s one thing I’m real keen on is making sure we get other churches involved besides just ourselves,” says Dennis.

Dennis and the congregation truly do step out in the community and offer their support.

“I'm pleased and humbled,” says Dennis. “But I see it as what God has called me to do.”

His personality shines and his generosity is contagious. He is always there anytime, 24-7, but he's quick to turn the spotlight on others who reach out when people need them most.

“I’m just amazed at what the people do and how they touch lives,” says Dennis. “So I just give thanks to the many people who help touch lives in the name of Christ and just to share the love of God throughout the whole broader Ozark area.”
