NIXA, Mo. -- Some of the heaviest damage in the Ozarks happened in Nixa early Friday morning.
Tents at the Hale's Fireworks stand on Highway 14 were blown over as storms barreled through.
Tables were flattened and boxes of fireworks were tossed around, damaging about 80 percent of the business's inventory.
"I don't know how high the winds were," says Rick Winslow. "I'd say 70-80 miles an hour. We broke ropes. We broke ratchet straps. We pulled stakes. Bad night."
A truck full of fireworks is scheduled to come in tonight to help employees re-stock.
Just up the street at the Mercy Clinic in Nixa, trees were toppled and uprooted. There are also reports of a tree blown onto a house near Highway 14 and Carlyle.
