The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a Heat Advisory, in effect from noon Friday to 7pm Sunday for these counties:
In southeast Kansas: Bourbon-Crawford- in  Missouri: Benton-Morgan-Miller-Maries-Vernon-St. Clair-Hickory-Camden-Barton-Cedar counties

Areas affected are along and north of a line from  Pittsburg, Kansas to Lake of the Ozarks.

Temperatures will be in the upper 90s to around  100 degrees. Heat indices will range from 100 to 107 on an afternoon basis.

The cumulative effects of multiple days of afternoon heat index values above 100 degrees will result in an increased risk of heat related illnesses.
Young children, the elderly, and those without access to air conditioning will be particularly susceptible.

A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.
