A new study finds an MRI of the carotid artery can accurately predict future strokes and heart attacks. Researchers at the National Institutes of Health used MRI's to look at plaque in the carotid arteries of about 950 patients with a history of cardiac disease They found MRI improved their ability to determine the risk of a cardiovascular event by up to 16-percent.
The Cincinnati Cancer Center has found that levels of BPA in men's urine can be a sign of prostate cancer. Bisphenol - A, or BPA, is an environmental pollutant used to make the hard clear plastic found in many food containers. . Researchers found that low levels of B-P-A exposure in men can cause changes in prostate cells. BPA has previously been linked to neurological defects, diabetes, and cancer.
And kids are eating healthier meals at school thanks to new federal lunch standards. Harvards School of Public health found 23 percent more of students are selecting fruits since standards went into effect in 2012. Consumption of vegetables is also up 16 percent.
