SPRINGFIELD -- The 10th annual "Bleed Red" blood drive is underway this week at the Community Blood Centers of the Ozarks.

CBCO spokesman Chris Pilgrim joins KOLR10's Chris Smith to talk about this important summer blood drive, how you can donate, and how the Springfield Cardinals are involved.

KOLR10 is teaming up with the CBCO, Springfield Cardinals, Hardee's Chase, Coca-Cola and Journal Broadcast Group to sponsor the drive.

The "Bleed Red" drive is from 11am-6pm Monday and Tuesday at the Thompson Donor Center at Campbell and Plainview Road in Springfield.

This is the biggest blood drive the CBCO conducts of the year.  It's also the biggest blood drive in the nation involving a minor league baseball team.  All blood types are needed with a current shortage of all negative blood types.

Donors receive two tickets to a Springfield Cardinals game, a Bleed Red tee-shirt, food coupons and chances to win prizes.
