SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- If you see a lot of emergency teams out in Springfield this morning, they are likely taking part in a full-scale disaster drill.

It's being called "Earth, Wind, and Fire" and will involve full activation of the Springfield-Greene County Emergency Operations Center.

More than 20 agencies and dozens of volunteers will participate in the training, starting around 9:00 am.

The goal of the exercise is to find the strengths and weaknesses of the system and make improvements before a real disaster ever happens.

It will involve public health, environmental concerns, how deaths are handled and coordination between agencies.

Police, fire, both major hospitals, and emergency management will all play a role in the drill today.
