SPRINGFIELD, Mo--Before Friday's decision by the University of Missouri to dismiss Dorial Green-Beckham, he issued a statement through his father concerning his latest brush with police in Columbia.

Green-Beckham was a top Tiger prospect, and led Mizzou with 12 touchdown receptions last season.

The latest incident happened early Sunday morning and involved an altercation between Green-Beckham and his girlfriend and her friends.

Police were called and an investigation was started, but it was closed Thursday because nobody wanted to press charges.

Friday, Hillcrest coach John Beckham talked with KOLR 10 sports and issued a statement that his adopted son Dorial Green-Beckham has written.

In part, Green-Beckham says: "I take responsibility for my conduct and my mistakes.  I don't blame my girlfriend for anything.  I'm not looking for sympathy...I have been young and dumb and I want to be better during my suspension I'm entering counseling....It may not be possible to fix everything but it won't be for not trying."
