SOCHI, Russia -- She fell in love with figure skating right here in Springfield.  And tonight, Gracie Gold will try to win gold in Sochi at the Winter Olympics.

Gold started the two part ladies figure skating competition last night with her short program.

The 18 year old skated after the defending gold medal winner Yuna Kim.
Kim owned the lead, but Gold received 68.53 points and that was good enough for fourth place.

Gracie Gold will try to make up a six point deficit in tonight's long program or free skate.

The last American skater to win Olympic gold in the ladies figure skating was Sara Hughes in 2002.
