CONWAY, Mo. – Gov. Nixon will meet with local elected and emergency management officials to discuss federal disaster assistance for flood damage on Tuesday, August 27.
According to a press release, Gov. Nixon declared a state of emergency on August 6 due to flooding that devastated parts of the state.
Due to the declaration, the State Emergency Operations Center was activated and the state was enabled to mobilize its resources, including the State Emergency Management Agency to assist local authorities.
The following day, Nixon ordered the deployment of Missouri National Guard Citizen-Soldiers to assist local authorities in protecting lives and property from the floods.
Nixon will meet with local officials at Conway City Hall, 115 S. Main St. at 1:30 p.m.
