The event was held May 2-4 and more than 900 anglers with 236 boats, representing 27 states, made it the biggest bowfishing event ever, according to a statement from Bass Pro.
This was the first year for the winning three-man team, who brought in 376 pounds of fish.
Two teams from Oklahoma took home cash prizes for longest gar and biggest fish. The longest gar reached 62.5 inches, which earned the team a $5,000 check.
The biggest fish, a 45.55 pounder, won the team a $7,000 check.
Proceeds from the event totaled more than $8,000 and were donated to the James River Basin Partnership to fund a clean-up effort.
Plans for the 2015 Bass Pro Shops U.S. Open Championship are underway.
