MOUNTAIN GROVE, Mo. - Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, for a Springfield couple slain in their home last week.

According to obituary information on the website of Crain-Hurtt Funeral Home, services for Jan and Gary Tyrrell will be in the Mountain Grove High School gymnasium. During a 30-year career with the Mountain Grove school system, Gary Tyrrell was a teacher, middle school principal, transportation director and eventually assistant superintendent.

Visitation is to be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the gymnasium, the obituary states. Burial is to be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The Tyrrell family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Gary and Jan Tyrrell Education Scholarship Fund c/o Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.

“Since education was such an important part of their lives, the family’s wishes are to use their passion to help others instead of receiving flowers,” the obituary states.

Springfield police are continuing to investigate the Tyrrell’s deaths. They are studying video from surveillance cameras near the couple’s home in the 3200 block of East Greenbrier and are asking the public for any clues in this case. They were found dead in the home on Thursday.

Police do not have any suspects at this time.  Call crime stoppers at 417-869-TIPS
