Friends of the Library Book Sale Brings in Fourth-Highest Amount

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Friends of the Springfield-Greene County Library District released the final tally of sales from the Spring Book Sale on April 29-May 4 at Remington’s in Springfield.

According to a news statement, $121,309.60 was brought in from the sale of used books, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks and games during the event.
The total is the fourth-highest sales level since the Friends started the sale in 1984. The record was set in the fall 2012 sale with $125,779.01 in revenue.

Proceeds from this and other semi-annual Friends sales benefit the10 branches of the Library and the Mobile Library, providing books for preschoolers, author visits and music concerts, special program series and capital improvements. The Friends also funded the Mobile Library and pledged $300,000 toward the Brentwood Branch renovation.

The next sale is the Friends Fall Book Sale on Oct. 21-26.
