Former MSU Football Player Charged With Murder in Texas

TERLINQUA, Texas – A Willard native and former Missouri State University football player faces murder charges in connection with the death of a bar owner in Texas.

According to the Brewster County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, Tony Flint, 37, of Terlinqua was arrested on Feb. 4 in connection with the death of Glenn P. Felts, 50, the owner of La Kiva Bar.

Felts was found around 8 a.m. that day in the parking lot of his business and was suspected to have died by blunt force trauma to the head.

Flint was arrested later that day and charged with first-degree murder.

According to a CBS affiliate CBS7 in Odessa, Texas, a probable cause statement and affidavit go further into detail on how investigators centered on Flint.

According to CBS7, document say Flint left the bar with Felts around midnight on the Tuesday and Flint says Felts fell outside the bar because they were both drunk.

Flint says that’s how Felts go the injuries to his face.

Investigators seized clothing and boots from Flint that contained blood and found an item of Flint’s clothing at the crime scene.

Deputies say that Flint’s statement about what he was wearing that night conflict with other witness statements.

83rd District Attorney Rod Ponton attempted to raise Flint’s bond from $200,000 to $400,000 during a hearing last week was denied by the judge, according to the Alpine Daily Planet, a local newspaper.

Flint is currently being held in the Brewster County Jail under a $200,000 bond.

According to Flint’s Facebook page, he worked as a boatman with Independent Whitewater in Terlingua and is from Willard, Mo. He played football while in college at Missouri State University, according to the MSU football roster and a search of KOLR10’s archives.
