Former Missouri Governor Joe Teasdale Dies at 78

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Former Missouri Governor Joseph P. Teasdale died Thursday at age 78.

Teasdale, a Jackson County native, was governor from 1977 to 1981.

According to the Kansas City Star, Teasdale died from complications of pneumonia.

After leaving public office in 1981, he went to Kansas City to practice law.

"As a personal friend of Joe's, I'm pained at the loss we have all just experienced,” said Jackson County Democratic Chair Tom Wyrsch, in a statement. “He set an example of leadership, dedication to his community and integrity that has greatly improved our state. He will be missed."
