A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through Saturday morning for the following counties: Bourbon, Crawford, Cherokee, Benton, Morgan, Miller, Maries, Vernon, St. Clair, Hickory, Camden, Pulaski, Phelps, Barton, Cedar, Polk, Dallas, Laclede, Texas, Dent, Jasper, Dade, Greene, Webster, Wright, Newton, Lawrence, Christian, Douglas, Howell, Shannon, McDonald, Barry, Stone, Taney, Ozark, and Oregon.
Meanwhile, a Flood Warning continues for the Gasconade River at Hazelgreen in Laclede County until Saturday evening. Heavy rainfall caused river levels to rise to 21.2 feet on Friday. Flood stage is 21 feet.
A Flood Warning also continues until 9 p.m. for Camden, Dent, Laclede, Maries, Miller, northern Texas, Phelps, and Pulaski counties.
A Flood Warning has also been issued for the Big Piney River at Fort Leonard Wood in Pulaski County. At 7 a.m. Friday, the river stage was at 16 feet. Flood stage is 13 feet. It's expected to continue to fall to below flood stage by Monday morning.
Drivers are urged by MoDOT not to drive through flowing water. Nearly half of all flood fatalities are vehicle related. As little as 6 inches of water may cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Two feet of water will carry most vehicles away.
