According to the NWA Council, the area hit 500 thousand residents back in May. Job creation is also on a steady incline.
President of the council , Mike Malone says people move into the area, and they love it so much that they end up staying. While Malone says steady growth is a good thing, it puts pressure on the infrastructure, so constant up-keep is crucial.
U.S. Senator, John Boozman met with the council on Wednesday to discuss challenges and what can be done.
Boozman said, "We've been really blessed, but it has to be orderly growth. It has to be so that it can be maintained in that way or we'll get ourselves in the same problems many other areas that have had such fast growth have encountered problems. Transportation is a huge issue, just getting people where they can get to work in a timely way. We're working hard on that but it takes time and you know the construction creates problems."
Boozman says Northwest Arkansas is on the right track, and there should be no problem with consistent growth. In the meantime, the NWA Council hopes folks remain patient when they see area construction.
