If you're keeping on top of the markets this morning, Thursday, July 3,  2014...

The Nikkei is down 22 points today in Tokyo.
On Wall Street, the Dow gained 20 points Wednesday, still just why of the 17,000 mark
And the Nasdaq remain unchanged.

Economists are expecting another solid month of hiring when the U.S jobs report is released later today. However, a new study shows, five years after the recession ended, 32 states still haven't regained all the jobs they lost even though the nation as a whole has.  

Career Builder is out with a new list of the top 10 metropolitan cities with the highest gain in share of jobs.
Houston came in at number one, followed by Dallas, and San Francisco.
The report says the overall growth has more to do with local economies.
For example there are energy resources in Houston...and technology hubs in Silicon Valley and Austin.

The personal finance social network, WalletHub, predicts 4th of July spending will increase this year, with the average household spending  about $330 dollars.  Based on food, entertainment, attractions and weather forecast, WalletHub says  Richmond,Virginia is the best city to celebrate Independence Day. The worst place --according to WalletHub-- is Durham, North Carolina.
