The Nikkei is down 48 points in Japan today.
On Wall Street, the Dow was up 19 points by the close Wednesday.
And the Nasdaq gained 4.
U.S. stocks were nearly flat on Wednesday even though new home sales surged to a 5 1/2 year high in January, far outpacing expectations. The Commerce Department says sales of new homes increased 9.6-percent.
Some big retailers are getting low marks for customer service. The American Customer Satisfaction Index ranks Walmart, Rite-Aid, and CVS as the retailers with the worst customer service. Walmart, which came in with the lowest score, had problems with its grocery services and customer relationships.
Your office could be making you sick. A study in the journal "Ergonomics" found that workers in open-plan spaces are more likely to take sick leaves than those with private offices. Researchers say these workspaces may spread infection.

To get consumers to try the new drink, 7-11 will offer them a free coupon from its 7-11 app.
According to the Slurpee.com website, the new drink is just 25 calories per 20ounces.
