July Jobs Report Shows Even Unemployment Rate, More Jobs Added

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri’s unemployment rate held at 6.5 percent in July, according to the July 2014 Jobs Report.

Despite the even unemployment rate, jobs were added across the state.

Missouri's nonfarm payroll employment grew by 13,200 jobs in July, bringing the total to 53,600 jobs added in the past year.

Jobs were added across a widespread in a variety of industries. Among the larger gains in private industries included durable goods manufacturing, adding 3,300 jobs, construction, adding 2,500 jobs, and the transportation, warehousing and utilities sector, which jumped by 2,300 jobs.

The educational services industry also experienced growth in July, with 2,200 jobs added. Finance and insurance also saw an increase of 1,100 jobs during the month.
