GALENA, Mo. -- Autopsies are scheduled for Wednesday (4/12/18) on the four people found dead after an apparent multiple murder-suicide in Stone County near Branson West.
Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader released the identities of the four today. They are Victor Gibson, 47, Susan Gibson, 70, Daniel Gibson, 17, and Cynthia Miller, 43.
All four suffered gunshots to the head, Rader said, and Victor Gibson died of a self-inflicted gunshot. He was identified as the shooter in the incident, but no motive for the shootings has yet been established, the sheriff said.
Bodies of the four were found in a home on Crown Drive and Queensberry Road south of Branson West on Monday after St. Louis relatives of the family became concerned that they could not be reached. The relative called a neighbor of the family in Stone County who went to the home and could not get an answer at the door. Looking through a door window, the neighbor saw what appeared to be a body in the home and called the Stone County Sheriff's Department.
Rader said the family had moved from California in July of 2017. He corrected earlier information that there had been no calls for law enforcement to the home until yesterday, saying his office did have one call to the home in 2017.
Daniel Gibson was a senior at Reeds Spring High School. The school released a statement that "he was well liked by his teachers and classmates. The school district has counselors available for students and staff who need support. The entire school community is saddened by this tragic event."
