Salvation Army Fills Backpacks for Needy Students

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.-- Area students will soon receive needed school supplies and clothing for the upcoming school year through the Salvation Army’s 2014 Back-to-School Assistance Program.

Each year, The Salvation Army assists local children by providing basic school supplies, backpacks, shoes and clothing from its thrift stores.

Volunteers will gather August 2 and August 4 at The Salvation Army offices to help pack backpacks, sort school supplies and act as personal shopping assistants for the children and families receiving assistance.
